Kundalini Yoga is a practice specifically for these times we live in - times of heightened sensitivity, rapid rate of change and unprecedented levels of stimulation. The practice is rapidly effective in bringing about the balance of the nervous system that allows us to find a safe harbour within ourselves that we can return to again and again, and gradually learn never to leave, even while engaging fully in the world.

This 5 week series is great as an introduction to the practice of Kundalini Yoga. It covers the basics of the practice and will give you an experience of its profound benefits.

Each class involves physical postures and movements (asana), combined with conscious breath (pranayama), mental focus, mudra (hand positions), conscious relaxation (savasana), chanting and meditation. It also includes illuminating teachings which give an expanded perspective on life and true identity.

On a physical level, Kundalini Yoga regulates and balances all the body systems and effectively helps with returning to homeostasis (inner regulation and balance), harmony and health.

Emotionally, through working directly on the nervous and glandular systems, the practice brings a sense of clarity and contentment. It can improve sleep, lower anxiety and lift us out of depression.

Spiritually, Kundalini Yoga works on the premise that you are a spiritual being having a human experience. Beyond the class, for those who are seeking that, it offers a path to walk through life - a dharma.

For those who already have experience with Kundalini Yoga, it is often good to revisit the basics. Going back to the simple helps you deepen and stabilise your foundation.

All are welcome. You don’t have to be fit or flexible. You don’t have to believe in anything. You don’t have to wear anything special. Just come as you are, dressed comfortably in clothes you can move in. Bring a yoga mat and a blanket for the relaxation and water to drink.
